Integrated rodent management: seal all entry points (exclusion), snap traps or tamper-resistant bait stations inside, perimeter bait stations outside; sanitation improvements to remove food sources. Sealing every gap is the first big step. Traps and bait stations cut the numbers down. Bait boxes outside catch them before they enter. Cleaning up food sources stops them from coming back.

Highly adaptable; nest in wall voids, attics, crawlspaces, and underground burrows; opportunistically enter structures through gaps as small as a dime (mice) or a quarter (rats). Rodents nest in walls, attics, and crawlspaces. They squeeze through very small gaps to get in. They come looking for food, water, and warmth. Once inside, they breed fast and spread out.

Mice and rats are common in Austin homes. They move in come fall as nights grow cool.
